There seems to be hidden agenda in continued discussions on sociologist’s comments – corruption and OBCs, SCs, STs.  The demand for arrest seems to be politically motivated.   All these people are conveniently forgetting the important part of the statement.  It is more than sixty years since independence.  Still there are states which never allowed BCs, SC-STs and minorities anywhere near to power.  Communists talk of equality and power to all.  But in the state which was ruled by communists for long time has not attempted to achieve their fundamental goal.  The failure of democracy to wipe the class and caste differences in the society is the root cause of all maladies now.  The men in high places, in the government, bureaucracy and media – print and visual, more than 80% are from forward caste.   Making news of ‘dalits – corruption’ gives them more satisfaction and righteous feeling than being critical about failure of socialistic republic in inclusive development.  
After all the explanation and context, instead of being vociferous about the arrest of Ashis Nandy, the political parties should fight and work for upliftment of downtrodden.
