A Visit to Punjab - 2

Amritsar

Golden temple at Amritsar is a must visit place for all Sikhs at least once in lifetime.  The temple in the centre of sarovar is awesome.  The only rule here is to remove footwear and cover the head.  Hand bags can be carried; photographs can be taken outside the temple.  But some people have taken pictures in the corridor leading into the temple which is also prohibited.  I felt happy that there is no frisking here.
We have visited the museum here which has many portraits, paintings depicting the lives and struggles of Sikh gurus and arms and armour.  At the temple the service is voluntary.  I have seen a young girl who picked the broom and swept the surroundings as service to God.

 Wagah Border

Wagah border is about 30KM from Amritsar.  Tourists who visit Punjab will visit Golden temple and Wagah border without fail.  The parade at the border by the BSF on either side, India and Pakistan, is chivalrous.  The patriotic songs played and the dances will ignite patriotism.  Watching the parade is unforgettable experience.Patriotic fervour is best experienced than expressed in words.
